You probably need to get the H-1B visa stamped in your passport from a US embassy in Canada, because you need a business visa to enter the US? That's the standard procedure for everyone. I'm not aware of any exceptions to it for Canadian citizens.ciscobud said:Hi,

The border agent will ask for your i797 when you tell them that you want to enter on H1B. They will stamp your passport with end date (based on i797) and that's all. i94 will be electronic and will be available almost immediately online.Hi , I have same situation like you now ( Oct 2022) . When we go for only visit to US as a Canadian citizen we can not pull our i-94 online .The border agent will ask for your i797 when you tell them that you want to enter on H1B. I was not asked any questions by the border agent. If you have NEXUS, ask the agent to update it there and then.
For H1B, you can. I did it.When we go for only visit to US as a Canadian citizen we can not pull our i-94 online .
Is this only valid if you are going from Canada to US or also from any other country ? lets say India. The border agent will ask for your i797 when you tell them that you want to enter on H1B. Do you mean the CBP officer can update your NEXUS profile with the new I-94? (no need to go to an enrollment center to update?)If you have NEXUS, ask the agent to update it there and then.
