Hi,

My wife has just received a request for fingerprints as part of her citizenship application. We were thinking to do it at an accredited Agency and i was just wondering if she would need a Letter from Immigration or Citizenship office where you first applied (must contain file, case or client number). If so, what kind of letter is that, is it a letter that starts with "The processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada is almost complete. You must complete the following steps within 30 days in order for our office to issue your Confirmation of Permanent Residence and, if applicable, your permanent residence visa....." and which has an application number at the top?

I’m guessing you saw the FP request in the tracker? If you haven’t received an email with a letter to take to the fingerprint agency yet, you will. And if you don’t after a couple of days, call IRCC to have them send it to you. You need to provide the letter at the agency so they know where to send your FP to.

This is exactly right. My wife called a little over a week after the notice came on the tracker. She was told that if the email does not come within 5 days of the request, they "resend" it - possibly if she had called earlier they would have fobbed her off. So I would suggest calling at least 5 days after.

About the format, the request comes with a PDF attachment that has instructions (including a list of documents to take along) as well as applicant UCI, name and date of birth, application number and which office the fingerprints need to be sent to. In our case we applied from Mississauga, but the destination was Vancouver.
