Childbirth Update in Citizenship App is Needed?

Hello,

Do we have to update childbirth that happened outside of Canada in an ongoing citizenship application? In the application, they only ask about your marital status. So technically, the information in the form hasn't changed for me to update anything. But I am just inquiring to be sure.

I don't believe you have to update IRCC of your new child. However, since the baby was born outside Canada before you became a Citizen, the baby is not automatically a Canadian Citizen. You'll need to sponsor the baby as a PR and once that is approved, and your baby has enter Canada as PR, you can immediately file an application for Citizenship grant for your Child as minors are not required to meet physical presence requirements

Thank you very much for clarifying. Yes I am planning to apply for the sponsorship but waiting for the baby’s documents to come through. I am curious about last month’s announcement of the TRV for dependents while waiting for the sponsorship to go through.
