Can you choose what to add as work experience on the express entry profile?

Hi Everyone:

I needed your help regarding the right to choose what work experiences to add on your express entry profile. I worked on an experiential learning project during my Masters education at a major firm where I basically performed the role of a sustainable supply chain consultant and delivered a sustainable inititaive at the facility which was implemented this lasted for three months. This was unpaid and I added this experience to my linked in profile titled student supply chain consultant.

Now I did not add this experience to my express entry profile since it was unpaid but would It still cause issues with the IRCC since they cross check linked in profiles and its added on there.

I would really appreciate this communities guidance.

Just put it in personal history and add a letter of explanation if you want, that it was unpaid.

There's no "cross-check" with Linkedin or any social media. However, you do declare them in your personal history section as intern or whatever role that was.

The misrepresentation case is extremely case specific and there's not much info on their actual profile and work experience letter submitted etc.

In general, Work experience needs to be declared in the personal history section if the points are not claimed. Social Media presence check is done for Background and Security purposes (most countries now do it) and generally not as a cross-reference for work experience.

You have the right to choose what work experiences to add on your Express Entry profile. However, it is important to note that IRCC may cross-check your LinkedIn profile with your Express Entry profile. If they find any discrepancies, it could delay or even jeopardize your application.

In your case, you have added the experience of being a student supply chain consultant on your LinkedIn profile. However, you have not added it to your Express Entry profile. This could raise a red flag with IRCC. They may question why you did not include this experience in your Express Entry profile. They may also ask for proof of this experience.

If you are not sure whether or not to include an experience on your Express Entry profile, it is always best to err on the side of caution and include it. It is also a good idea to keep all of your employment records, including job descriptions, letters of reference, and performance reviews. This will help you to substantiate your work experience if IRCC asks for it.

When you submit your EE profile, you should enter job experiences that you can claim points for, so that your eligibility and score can be determined. The instructions also tell you to not include anything related to an apprenticeship.

After you recieve ITA and start filling out your PR application, there will be a section called "personal history", where you have to enter all personal history, including unemployment periods, what you were doing, your address etc. This is where you shouldn't omit anything, and should make sure the information you enter is 100% correct.

I've heard of cases where IRCC officers cross check your social media and the resume you put online, so I'd say it's wise to fill out the personal history form to the best of your knowledge.
