Hi all,

I completed the citizenship test in first week of December 2022. It's been 6 months and there has been no real update to my profile. My profile was once updated on December 5th to show the citizenship test has been passed/completed. At that stage my Background Verification and Citizenship Test sections showed complete with all others showing In Progress.

It showed my profile was once again updated on March 2nd but none of the other statuses really changed (e.g. Language Skills, Physical Presence, Prohibitions still show In Progress and Citizenship Ceremony shows Not Started).

It's been 6 months since the test and all my other friends/colleagues who applied and took the test with me have their passports already. Further to add to my confusion, my application is pretty straightforward with me applying as a sole applicant and have lived and worked in Canada since I got my PR.

I have reached out to my local MP but they cannot help me as my application still falls under the 2-year time frame.

I'm hoping someone else had been through something similar and can guide what I should do.

You have answered your own query in the second last line. As long as your timelines fall within IRCC's published information, nothing will come out of following up with your MP etc. Processing time and outcome is out of your control & influence and it doesn't help to compare your status with others.

My application took 40 months, so what you could do is get on with your life till you have cross the published threshold. Lack of citizenship is not preventing you from doing anything including travel. There's no election planned so there is no rush to vote. The only thing you could perhaps not do is apply for some jobs.

Assess your situation and if you feel you qualify for urgent processing, make a case for it, otherwise, don't lose sleep over it.
