Hi all,

My background is that I'm a Bangladeshi Citizen living and working in Australia as an Engineer on a Skilled Work Visa with a pathway to Permanent Residency.

A bit of a background on my attempts to get a tourist visa in Canada (directly by me and my parents when I was under 18).

These are attempts to visit my sister who's a citizen in Canada. I have no intention in staying in Canada anyways as I'm settled in Australia.
  1. Parents applied for a tourist visa in 2015 for us to visit Canada. Application was refused as my father didn't enclose a visa refusal for Canada (started the PR processs for Canada in late 90s but didn't go through with the application at the end so apparently inability to complete an application back then counted as a refusal and he didn't know)
  2. In 2016, I was in Australia as a student and wanted to visit my sister as she was about to give birth to my first niece. Visa was refused due to lack of supporting documentation (I provided my uni schedules, uni fee payments, accommodation and a letter from my father to support financially while I visited my sister)
  3. Just today (01/06/2023). I'm working full time as an Engineer in Australia and I'm on a Skilled Visa with a pathway to my Permanent Residency here. I wanted to visit my sister and her family for 3 weeks after not seeing them for over 5 years. Visa was refused as the visa officer mentioned that they weren't convinced I would come back from Canada. This one was annoying and hurt - I provided my bank statements, proposed travel itinerary, employment letter, employment leave approval, current residency status in Australia and invitation letter from my sister. I'm not sure what else I can provide to show that I genuinely want to be in Canada on a temporary basis to visit my sister

I'm stumped - the visa process is a mess. I've provided more documents than what is required because apparently that's what immigration in Canada wants to see but don't state in their website?

Furthermore if more documents are required why is there a limit to the amount of documents you can upload??

I'm shocked at how inefficient the whole process is to get a toursit visa. It's like you have to read their minds.

The process in Australia is so much more straight forward, you have to upload what they want and can upload as many supporting documents as required. PRs/citizens can even sponsor eligible family members and are held accountable to ensure their family members follow the visa conditions.

What can I do? Do Invite the visa officers to stay with me in Australia to see that I'm actually settled here and have no intention in illegally staying in Canada?
