Hello, i just got AOR and email from IRCC.ClientInformation-InformationsClient.IRCC@cic.gc.ca requesting police cert.
i replied directly to this email and mentioned that i should not provide it as i didn’t stay in any country longer than 183 days.

does anyone know if that suffices/ works and how long i should expect the response from them? Will they ever respond? Should i provide the police cert instead? Can anyone advise? Thanks a lot.

If they are requesting you for an additional Police Certificate, they need it despite the fact that you lived there less than 183 days continuously. IRCC may request any additional documents required to process your case.

You should now work towards getting a PCC within the allocated time line if you don't want any further delay in processing your application

Thank you. They don’t allocate any time line in the email. What do you mean? You mean to get it asap? Thank you.

This is what sent to me:
Police Certificate Request

· You must provide a police certificate for each country or territory where you have been present for 183 days or more in a row (since the age of 18). If you cannot get a police certificate, please explain why. A police certificate or explanation for no certificate is required for your time spent in Vietnam.
· You didn’t upload a police certificate (wrong or blank document uploaded).

To fix this issue
Upload the correct police certificate
  • · Upload the correct police certificate

You may send the requested information/document(s) or any questions regarding your application via the Web form at the following link or send the requested information, and a copy of this email, to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) at the address at the bottom of this email.

Curious how long you stayed in Vietnam? Perhaps it is closer to 6 months although it is less than that?
Or did you visit Vietnam often so the combined period is more than 6 months? (perhaps they confused it with "in a row")

If that's all your stay in VN in the preceding 4 years then technically you don't have to provide a PC.

Per the mail, "If you cannot get a police certificate, please explain why. A police certificate or explanation for no certificate is required for your time spent in Vietnam.". This says you have to provide explanation if you are not providing PC for VN. You can write up a letter explaining you never stayed in Vietnam for more than 2 months in a row in the preceding 4 years.

Alternatively, as another person pointed out, you can get a PC from VN and upload it as well.

It's still not clear why they'd ask you for one. Are you originally from VN? If so did you provide PC for your PR or gave an explanation for not providing one?
