We a family of 3, Me, My Wife, My Son who is studying in the Senior Secondary in a prestigious school had applied for a Visitor Visa. It was refused based on 179b of refugee protection act. Stating that
Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).
• You do not have significant family ties outside Canada.
• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.

We own a residential property jointly in the name of me and my wife currently valued at 4.25 Cr INR and a commercial property valued at 1.00 Cr INR and more that sufficient fund required in our bank accounts. Also we attached the NOC from my son's school for the travel the travel dates were well within the stipulated summer break, The Business registrations, ITR, Property Documents, Marriage Certificate.

My son being a student in the final year of his school has all the valid reason to come back in order to finish his school. Yet the Visa officer decides he will not Leave Canada. I mean seriously is this a plausible reason to furnish?

We both have running businesses and a travel history as well. I have been travelling extensively for almost 2 decades to South East Asia and Europe. My wife and son have also travelled to South East Asia, Uk and other places. Infact she recently visited the UK and did leave UK after 10 days and got back to India.

I have a dependent brother and a married sister who stays in Delhi. My wife has her parents who stay in Delhi NCR, a Married Sister stays in Delhi NCR. Interestingly my wife's Parents and her Sister's Family whose Son (Our Nephew) who is in BC they all got their Visas and ours was refused. Do not understand what other family ties one can have or show besides these. My Son whose parents we are we too stay in Delhi NCR.

The purpose of stay as stated was tourism and since our nephew stays in BC and works with PWC we were to visit him too during our visit. The relationship proof was also attached along with other required documents. . The purpose of visit was explained as well.

Taking all of the above details as mentioned above into consideration I strongly feel the applications are not looked at in a proper manner neither the decisions that are made competent enough.

Well then they should sit at home than waste people's time, money and effort. To top that there's no other way one can actually approach or question their assessment and decision.

There, you captured it nicely. In fact, it's doubtful that some applications are really looked at at all. We have applied for TRV for my wife 3 times since 2019. Always same unsigned boilerplate letter of denial. This year, the deny came just 2 days after submission. Not possible anyone actually read and gave fair consideration to the application and detailed supporting documents. But, as b-b said, there is an element of luck that keeps some of us hoping and trying. We are now waiting to see what they do with her PR application. After 3 TRV denies, we have a pretty good idea.

Well this was our first time and for me is the last time as well. I care not to visit a country that has no proper check towards granting a TRV. Most baffling is since I have been travelling the world over be it SEA Countries, Europe, Pacific region not once did get a refusal. I am talking of a travel history of past 25 years :) Like B-B said luck and the mood of Visa officer, how bizarre can it be if actually that is the case. Agreed It's your country you got all the rights to refuse but then give proper reasons to do so. In our case the reasons given for refusal have no merits. Atleast have sincere educated guys looking at the Visa applications and decide, deciding an application without even seeing is too unprofessional and unjustified. Canada is off my radar for any kind of visit be it for tourism or business for that matter. PR was never ever in mind nor will it be.

Yup a joke indeed with IRCC run by a bunch of Jokers seriously. They have no idea as to how to look at a particular case and decide it on it's merits. In our case Details of all Assets we had were mentioned, the bank balances, Investment Certificates, Business License's, Kid's school Noc. Family details back in India, they did not gave an eye to any of these added to that the backlog owing to labor strike compounded to the woes and making matters even worse. Interesting way of working by IRCC for sure.
