Dear Friends

I am planning to apply for a work permit but I have found out that I am pregnant.
I have a job offer.

How does pregnancy affect my work permit?

Thanks

So you have an approved LMIA? You can apply for a work permit but processing will be put on hold if you need a medical and x-ray.

hi naturgrl

yes i have LMIA.

I guess i will have to wait till after pregnancy to get my xray done.

Should I file my work visa now or after 9 months or so when i have child.

Also i would be taking my child with me then, how does this affect my work visa chances?

thanks

You can apply now and application will be put on hold until medical is completed. You’re having a child has no impact on your visa chances. But your infant will need an approved TRV. Would also start looking at daycare because assume you will need care. Few places take infants and if they do then the waitlists are long. Waitlists are long or full for many daycares.

Hi naturgrl

I will be staying with my sister-in-law in Canada. She and her husband are Canadian citizens and are financially quite sound. They have their own house and a 6 year daughter.
If my sister-in-law and husband gives an undertaking that they are quite happy looking after my child while i am at work, will the IRCC be okay with that or is it mandatory for me to get my child admitted into a day care center only?

thanks

No you don’t have to say your relatives are taking care of child. Just mentioning wait lists. Nice that you have family who can look after your child full time. Staying with family has no bearing on your application as you are the one who has to show that you have the experience to do the job. Your employer will have to be notified as you will not be starting the job for quite a long time.

What about the father? He will have to approve travel to Canada. Where do you live?

hi naturgrl

sorry for the late reply as my health has been up and down lately due to pregnancy.
I am from INDIA. My husband runs his own small business (self employed).
I wish him to accompany me as well to Canada.
Is it possible?
because that would be a great emotional relief for me if he is around me in Canada.

Also i have received medical request from IRCC but my doctor has said clear NO to the x-ray.

regards

Your spouse can apply for SOWP.
