Student and visit visas are being approved even for people who applied in April 2023 but work permits seem to be stuck. My application has been stuck at background check since September last year. Don't really know what's happening despite raising numerous webforms I keep getting generic responses and ghost updates

No. I'm in Kenya , but it seems the same thing is happening in Tanzania too. It shouldn't take 9 months to decide whether to grant a work permit or not.

How did you contact the MP? I'm waiting for my GCMS notes to see what is happening and from there on I will be able to know what to do next.

No movement at all. I got three updates on my tracker this month but nothing changed. Still background check in progress. I don't know what they are checking for 9 months. At this point I need any decision so I can know what to do with myself

I think their processing time makes no sense...my application is more than 52 weeks yet website has been showing 8weeks
