I haven't received any mail/ invite but the tracker account says my test is scheduled to be taken between May 15 and June 5.
You shall get the email two days in advance of May 15, can come anytime between now until May 12, you can start preparing now.

A ghost update is when the last updated date changes and there is no visible change in the tracker stages. No you do not receive any email for this.
It is visible on the tracker. The date at the top right corner should be updated once you have a ghost update.
It's better to just do practise questions so you are familiar with the kind of questions they ask rather than trying to imagine them and then stocking up on a bunch of irrelevant information that aren't asked about.
