Express Entry Job offer

Hello to all of you,

i would appreciate if someone with experience would answer my question.

i recently got a work permit supported by LMIA. The LMIA and work permit was issued in Feb 2023. It was the High Wage Stream.
I am now working in Canada and looking into the PR options.
According to my calculations I have 439 points. I can add an extra 50 with a job offer.
My question is:
a. Will my current employer have to apply for a new LMIA so that the job offer is valid for EE?
b. Is only a job offer enough (of course considering the required length as per EE requirements) to claim those points.

my employer is more than happy to support me but as I have done this whole process myself until now, I am not quite sure regarding this matter.

would someone be kind enough to offer their thoughts?

thanks in advance.

Do you have ECA and IELTS (CLB 7) to apply? Is your LMIA exempt? If not LMIA exempt then you can count the 50 points. Follow the instructions in the link.

My current work permit is closed under a LMIA. I read the link before but I am still not sure whether I would need another LMIA for a job offer for PR purposes from the same employer I am working for.

Most likely yes unless your letter states that you will have a job one year past PR.

A valid job offer has to be:

  • made by one employer
  • continuous
  • paid
  • full-time (at least 30 hours a week)
  • not seasonal
  • for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa
  • in a NOC TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 job
