Super visa and visitor visa ticket

Hi,

I applied for super visa for my mother and tourist visa for my aunt. They wanted to travel together.
And it has already been 4 months and we are still waiting. During this time, we had to change the flight dates because their visa is still taking time and I have just learnt that we cannot move the flight dates any more without paying a hefty fees.
My question: Can we cancel the ticket and get our refunds and buy tickets again after my mother and aunt get their visa? If we cancel the tickets, is there any possibility that their visas get refused?
Both tickets are round way.
