Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

Mostly people are worried about how the applications will be dealt after the strike will be over. Many of us believe that our applications may be lost somewhere in the queue and there no way to get an update. At the same time, we have been checking the tracker regularly to get the Oath dates and once it go so close it, it got moved.
Many have travel plans, many are having their PR cards expiring. Also, the news is only saying "we are at the negotiation table and making progress" so that all adds to anxiety. Sometimes there are other aspect in a person's life that can keep them so busy that they hardly get time to think about it, sometimes its not. I can understand everyone have their own story so I cant really comment on this much. But I am down for a bevvy

mate i agree, everyone has a story but also it's a bit too hopeful if some are making travel plans or not renewing their resident cards in hope of getting their citizenship ahead of it. just adds to the anxiety. but then again everyone functions differently, hopefully everyone is happy in the end. If you are a gin guy, you should try some of the empress from BC. mad good with the tonic also changes colour.

According to this, they're holding a press conference to provide negotiations updates. Hoping for the best, but the language of the article does not suggest it will be an announcement of resolution. Really hope it's positive news.

I also feel that so far Trudeau was escaping it but now since PSAC has said that Trudeau's presence can solve it, the heat has shifted on him.

Not just that...TB only has mandate to go till 9%. Anything above that needs to be approved by PM, I guess? That is what I understood from today's press meet. So the ball is in his court now. He can't use Mona as a scapegoat anymore.

Yes, he and the Finance minister have the ability to move the mandate. I think they may be working on it, I cant believe they are sitting and waiting out. I feel they will get it done and find an opportune moment to declare it

I personally think Trudeau is not intervening (yet) to make a statement. Right now, the government looks better in the eye of the public and is gaining more support (since the elections are coming in 2025) for standing up to the PSAC bullies. At this point, it's a political game and the government is winning by dragging this out, and it's the only option since they don't have the support to pass back-to-work legislation.
They know the majority of Canadians are not in favour of the wage increase and that federal workers deliver sub-par services, so they're riding the wave.
But at the same time, it can also be detrimental since Canadians will begin to ask why is the PM not doing something more to end the strike.
Either way, we don't win. We either get the public services back at a very high cost out of our pockets, or we don't get any service at all.

I agree, the more Trudeau waits to step in, the more he loses sympathy. He's waiting for that sweet spot to make something happen and gain voters for 2025, which is how politics work, sadly. That's his end game, at least that's how I see it.
I come from an ex-communist country that functions (mostly) on corruption and I've seen this scenario before many, many, times when public workers were on strike and this is exactly how it plays out.
They bark the same phrase of "reaching a deal that is reasonable for the taxpayers and fair for the workers" to cover their true intentions.
