Hi everyone, just wanted to know from other experiences before i start a sponsorship application for my sister. My sister from mexico is currently visiting here till july and have been visiting here off and on for few years. Since i have become a PR resident in 2022 and eligible for citizenship application this fall, I wanted to know lessons learned from those that sponsored siblings etc.

She will return in June back to Mexico. If i wanted to sponsor her, i saw the application form and everything looks standard on the application and her ETA is valid till 2028.
However, i do not see processing times on the immigration website so not sure how long it takes for such application. What are the chances of sponsoring family members getting approved.

Any insights would be appreciated. We are both in our late 40s me being older.
Thank you!

In order to sponsor your sister, you must be single, have no children, both of your parents need to be deceased, and you cannot have any other family members in Canada (e.g. aunt, uncle). If you were sponsored by your partner, then you do not qualify to sponsor your sister unless you and your partner are no longer together and all of the rest of the criteria apply as well.
