Can I apply for work permit a day before my study permit expires and still work?

Hello, I am an international student, and my study permit expires on the 30th of April. However, I applied for the extension a month ago but have not heard back. Moreover, My finals are over, and I might get my graduation confirmation around the 28th of April. Can I apply for a work permit 2 days before my study permit expires and be able to work in Canada? I am really confused about that.

Confirm with someone as I'm also a student. But I have read that you can work on applied status of your work permit.

The short answer is maybe. There are a number of conditions you have to meet in order to work while your PGWP is being processed. If you can get a letter from your DLI saying you have completed and passed your courses you don't have to wait for your diploma or transcripts to be issued and you could apply sooner.

You need to have a valid study permit when you receive proof of graduation. Normally you get this in May or June but verify with your school.
