Hello

My mother needs to buy medical insurance in order to enter Canada on her Supervisa. Looking at some insurance comparison sites I wondered if anyone has used a company called MSG and are they legit? https://msginsurance.ca/

They’re much cheaper than the big names like ManuLife but not sure if it’s safer to go with a well-known company or does it not make any difference?

Thanks

I used msg for a couple years, many years ago. I never had to file a claim so I can't comment on how good their process is. Any time I did talk to them it was easy get a hold of a person and they seemed knowledgeable. You have to compare the level of coverage you need and will be getting from the different companies and make a decision from there. Make sure you review ALL the restrictions and exclusions of the policy, it can be many pages but that is where you find the real important things. Looking at their website won't tell you that stuff. Speak to a CSA and ask for a copy of what your policy would be.

Usually you will have a week or 2 to review all the info they provide and can cancel the policy without penalty during that period.

Hi @Canada2020eh,

I also recently bought from them but I found them to be shady. The whole customer service is unprofessional. I was promised a 100 Dollar referral bonus which I didn't get and then they continued to justify that the insurance they gave me was cheap and I should be grateful to them.

I am now worried that if I have to refund because my parents won't stay for the whole year, how difficult it will be or how difficult it is to claim?
Any feedback would be great. @littlebunny84 I would avoid them.

Unfortunately I can't give an opinion as I just let mine lapse when renewal time came around. Have you read their cancellation/refund policy? You have nothing to lose by trying since the policy won't be used for the duration you took it out for.
