Should I Renew my U.S Passport Before Getting my Work Permit at the Canadian Border?

Hello all!

I have finally been approved for a work permit (Post-grad work permit, applied from outside of Canada) but need advice on how to proceed.
I was planning to go to the border today to have my final review of eligibility and receive my permit, but on review of my U.S documentation, I realized my U.S passport expires in June 2025. Since my work permit (if granted) will be linked to my U.S passport, would it be smarter to renew my U.S passport first in case my work permit will be valid for longer than 2 years? (I graduated from a 4 year university program at UBC for reference). Or is it unlikely I will be granted a 3 year work permit, and so I should simply go receive my work permit at the border instead of going through the U.S renewal process?

Any help much appreciated!

You can apply now and then apply to get the rest of the entitled PGWP when you get a new passport. There are huge delays to get a new passport in the US which is another reason not to delay getting your PGWP.
