'You must leave Canada immediately' what does this mean exactly?

I was in Canada earlier this year, but was asked to leave 'immediately' on January 9th as my LMIA visa application was rejected and so my period of maintained status ended on this date. I stopped working immediately and booked flights home, but with costs, having to organize sending my belongings back to the UK, arranging to have to tenants replace me and organizing accommodation back in England I obviously wasn't able to leave right away. I left within 21 days.

I'm now applying for a second IEC visa through an RO, and I'm not sure if I have to specify that I 'overstayed' as Ieft the country as soon as I was able to. Obviously it is not possible for people to leave the moment they receive notification of their status expiring, so what is the limit here and what is regarded as 'overstaying'? Has anyone been through a similar process before?

Thanks!

What does the question say exactly? If it asks if you remained beyond the validity of your visa, then you would need to answer yes. People generally leave before their allowed stay ends. If you remain beyond the length of your allowed stay, then you have technically overstayed.
