Hi,

I and my fiancé belong to Hindu family. However we are planning for our wedding as per Sikh traditions.
We would be having the wedding ceremonies in the gurdwara.
Would there be any issues in the spouse sponsorship if we follow Sikh traditions in marriage and not the Hindu traditions?

Is this an arranged marriage? How long have you known each other / relationship / physically met many times? WIll your families and etc attend the ceremonies?

My reasoning: for an arranged married, might be unusual and a bit of a question mark, and especially if family not involved.

If there's a long relationship (eg not arranged) and no other issues, probably not an issue. If on top of that none of you are particularly 'active' (religious) Hindus, make that clear.

that said, I'm not claiming to be an expert, this is just common sense.

It may help to understand if you explain why you're planning to approach this way,.

Yes it is an arranged marriage. We have known each other for about 2 months where we have physically met couple of times.
Family and friends would attend all thé ceremonies.
There is no specific reason so as to choose this type of wedding. We are more inclined towards Sikh traditions and we plan to do the same way, that’s all although we are Hindus.

As long as you explain why as Hindus you are getting married with Sikh traditions it should be fine. Assume this may involve some form of conversion and ongoing following of the Sikh traditions. Adopting another religion is allowed that’s personal choice. Proof of knowing each other is what is most important. Family presence at the wedding certainly helps as well. Just document all meetings and ongoing communication
