Hi all,

I have a query for my citizenship application when inputting the temporary resident status part and the correct dates.

Details:

Study permit validity as per document: Oct 2015 - Jul 2019
PGWP Validity as per document: Apr 2019 - Jul 2022

I graduated Dec 2018 and applied for PGWP Jan 2019. I was granted PGWP in April 2019. Between Jan 2019 and April 2019, I was working waiting for a decision to be made on my PGWP (this was okay for me to do as per my immigration consultant at University).

What temporary residence status did I have between Jan 2019 and April 2019? Am I still considered to be on that study permit status until the final decision was given to me in April 2019 about my PGWP? And once the decision was made in April 2019, did the study permit automatically stop being valid even though on the paper it was expiring in July 2019?

The same thing happens with my PGWP, I am granted PR in Oct 2020, but as per the work permit document, it is valid until Jul 2022. Once I am granted PR, then the PGWP stops being valid and I am automatically moved to PR status?

Thanks in advance for any help

Your status was a foreign worker from Apr 2019 - Oct 2020.
You are a PR from you landing date in Oct 2020.

I don't know the exact status (maintainence maybe) from Jan 2019 - Apr 2019.
I will let others to comment on that.

Study permit: Oct 2015 - Apr 2019
PGWP Validity as per document: Apr 2019 - Jul 2022

Take a look at this example which I provided on a separate thread..
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/tourist-visa-before-becoming-a-pr-how-to-enter-details-in-physical-presence.786737/post-10329643

Once you feed the dates in the tool the system will automatically calculate time inside Canada as a Study/WP and PR

Hi all,

What temporary residence status did I have between Jan 2019 and April 2019? Your status between Jan 2019 and Apr 2019 is a Student, though you might have been working 40 hr/week.
Am I still considered to be on that study permit status until the final decision was given to me in April 2019 about my PGWP? That is correct, you are still considered to be on the study permit until the final decision is made even if the study permit expires before the decision.
And once the decision was made in April 2019, did the study permit automatically stop being valid even though on paper it was expiring in July 2019? Once the decision is made your status as a student stops, and your status as a Foreign Worker starts

The same thing happens with my PGWP, I am granted PR in Oct 2020, but as per the work permit document, it is valid until Jul 2022. Once I am granted PR, then the PGWP stops being valid and I am automatically moved to PR status? On your landing day your status changes from Foreign Worker to PR

Thanks in advance for any help
