Hello folks,

I am starting the process to sponsor my 2 dependant children (5 and 7), and I have a doubt regarding the signatures on the sponsorship form.

I know that for minors, the parent/legal guardian signs for them. So at the end, where we "sign" (electronically) by typing the names, just I repeat my name for the third entry where it says principal applicant, or since it's just the name should I enter my child's name?

Thanks!!

When filling out the sponsorship application for your dependant children, you should sign each of the sections where a signature is required as the sponsor. Your dependant children are not required to sign the application as they are minors.

In the "Declaration of Applicant" section of the application, you should sign your own name as the principal applicant, since you are the one submitting the application on behalf of your children.

When you sign electronically, you will typically be asked to enter your name in a designated box or area. You should enter your own name in this box for all signature requirements, including the section where it says "Principal Applicant".

So, in summary, you should sign all sections where a signature is required with your own name as the sponsor and principal applicant. Your dependant children are not required to sign the application.

Thanks, I will perform this then.

The only doubts I still have are:

- Why do they ask for income details etc. in the checklist, when this is (in theory) not required for minor dependent children. (not talking about the part where they ask for the financial evaluation form, 1283, rather in section B, subsection 3 "Employment/source of support")
- Why do ask for additional documents for "providing proof of relation" for a dependent child??? If I already have to submit their birth certificate and it says we're the parents? Seems completely unnecessary.

Not sure how it works with the checklist now that the application is online, but when it was a paper application you just wrote "N/A" for things weren't applicable like income info for minor kids.

Don't know why they ask for more proof of relationship, but provide what you have/what they ask for.
