Can you work as a contractor for a US company on an OWP?

Hello, I'm currently living in ON and my wife has a OWP. She is looking for work and received contact from a person in US for a contract role. This company doesn't have a branch or anything in Canada. Could she work remotely as a contractor for them? Is this legal from the CRA perspective?

Does she have a work permit for USA? IRS would need that to run her payroll.

As for CRA, this is going to be income outside Canada

In order for you to have a payroll running ina country you need to have eligibiity to work

She wouldn't have a payroll in the US. It would be a contractor roll which they would pay through wire. I was thinking we could use something like deel.com for this.
