Inland PR Application Approved While I am Outside Canada

While my inland e-APR was being processed, I had to move out of Canada for my marriage. I informed IRCC after my marriage and my intent to add my spouse to my PR application. However, they never acknowledged it, nor asked for any additional documents. Now, I've got a mail with an attachment stating that my PR application has been approved and asking me of any changes to my situation and whether I am currently inside Canada. I replied that I am outside Canada and have been married and would like to add spouse to my PR application, to which they just replied that they can't create/give access to PR portal if I am not inside Canada (They didn't comment anything on my request to add my spouse to my application). However, I was advised to let them know once I'm back in Canada. Here are my three questions:
  1. I've a valid V-1 visitor visa. Before my closed work permit expired, I had applied for a bridge open work permit (BOWP), but it is still in progress. Can I come back to Canada with just my visitor visa?
  2. Is there any chance that I will get a BOWP, given that my PR application has now been already approved?
  3. Is there any way that I can ensure that IRCC includes my spouse in my PR application? I don't want to go the Spousal PR way, which is a long, long process.
Please provide your inputs and advice. Thank you in advance!

I just wan to say that based on the information you provided, it sounds like you may have a few options and steps to consider.

  1. Returning to Canada: As a holder of a valid visitor visa, you may be able to enter Canada. However, you will need to ensure that you meet all the requirements for entry as a visitor, such as having a valid passport, sufficient funds for your stay, and proof of ties to your home country. You should also be aware that entering Canada as a visitor does not allow you to work in Canada.
  2. Applying for a BOWP: While your PR application has been approved, this does not necessarily mean that your BOWP application will be automatically approved. The BOWP is a separate application that is evaluated based on its own requirements. If you are eligible for a BOWP, you can apply for one even if your PR application has been approved. It's important to note that BOWP processing times can vary, so it may take some time before you receive a decision.
  3. Adding your spouse to your PR application: If you want to add your spouse to your PR application, you will need to provide IRCC with the necessary documentation to support this request. This may include a marriage certificate and other documents to show that your spouse meets the eligibility criteria for immigration. You should contact IRCC to inquire about the specific process for adding your spouse to your application, as it may vary depending on your circumstances.
Overall, I would recommend that you contact IRCC directly to discuss your specific situation and the options available to you. They will be able to provide you with more detailed guidance on the process for returning to Canada, applying for a BOWP, and adding your spouse to your PR application. Good luck!

Hi,

I really appreciate your detailed inputs! It really helps! Thank you so much!
Just one question: I had submitted my BOWP application just two days after submitting my PR application. My PR application being approved won't have any bearing on my BOWP application. In other words, my BOWP application will, still, be processed and a decision will come. Is my understanding correct?

Thank you!
