Hello everyone!

My wife and I applied for a PRTD and got rejected under humanitarian and compassionate grounds. We are now planning to apply for a TRV to visit our son in Canada. After how many months do you recommend we apply after the rejection? Also my son is a Canadian Citizen and he wants to write us an invitation letter. Should he mention in the invitation letter that we are not planning on staying there for long and that we are just visiting or should he avoid all that together as it makes it sound suspicious?

Thank you

You have to give ALL of your specifics
Here you say you received a PRTD
Which is it ?
Yes,No,expired?
If it expired. The IRCC probably gave you ONE shot at returning after your LENGTHY absence.
Saying you won’t be staying after the fact of applying for a PRTD maybe a tad bit contradictory .
Btw your son can write an invitation, but the onus is on YOU to show that you’ll leave & and you have ties to your country . Not him
The invitation letter is an extremely small part on whole of the visa application
Biggest part is showing you’ll LEAVE
If he says you’ll leave & you don’t , what’s the repercussions?
Nothing
Having your son in Canada is a strong tie you’ll stay

We applied for a PRTD to return to Canada on March 2022 and got rejected 2 weeks after applying (They said No). Now, we decided to apply for a TRV to visit Canada as tourists and visit our son. How can we show that we don't want to stay in Canada? Should we attach images of our expired PRs (I dont think thats a good idea)? Our son mentioning that we don't want to stay on the Invitation letter? Do you recommend that we write a letter saying that we are just visiting and planning to leave or would that make it feel suspicious and just avoid mentioning it all together?

Thank you!

It's been almost a year since you lost your PR status so I think you can definitely try for the TRVs and have some chance of success. Keep your trip relatively short (e.g. 2-3 weeks) and show strong ties to your home country such as employment, property ownership and other assets.

I can't comment on the invitation letter or whether you should include a letter.

I think you should write a detailed letter of Explanation in ur application stating y u don't want to overstay in Canada as ur PRTD file will most likely be pulled out with this TRV application and it will contradict the purpose of TRV coz u thought of becoming PRs again in the past.
also the application forms ask about previous refusal so u can't hide the PRTD application from IRCC otherwise it will be misrepresentation

you need to clarify why you are better off outside canada and have no plans in settling in here
what were the reasons of renouncing ur PR status before???
u need a strong case to be able to get TRV this time... coz IRCC already thinks that people would not leave Canada at the end of their stay for which they are rejecting many applicants who have never even tried to become PR ever in the past

Good luck to u
