Hi!

It’s been 3 years since I got my PR status but have not been in Canada since then due to some things I had to take care of in my home country. I understand that I did not meet RO (spending 730days in 5years in Canada).
My question is: do I have to voluntarily renounce my status now, or is it enough if I do it in 2years when the 5 year passes? Would I have any problem traveling to Canada or the US if I don’t have an officially renounced
PR status? Would there be any disadvantage/problem? Is it unlawful in any way not to have an officially renounced status, or is it ‘only’ that one is not allowed to settle in Canada for good due to not meeting RO?
Thanks!
