That is correct, I have never traveled to Canada. I'm being sponsored by a church.

Apparently because my salary does not commensurate with my travel history, the officer didn't ask me anything about my salary during the interview.

That doesn't really make sense. Can you post the full PFL and also the refusal letter? Remove personal information like your name.

Just for your knowledge you aren’t a protected person in Canada. You may have refugee status with UNHCR which is different. That is why we were so confused.

Sounds like there was concerns that you haven’t been living in Turkey this whole time. Have you been in Turkey since you left your home country?

Yes, I've been in Turkey for almost 4 years now. They checked my passports during the interview, and those vacations were almost 9 years ago.

If you are more comfortable with private advice, then hiring a lawyer is your best options. Given your application has been refused and you're considering appealing, you'll most likely need a lawyer anyway.

Are you a refugee claimant or an accepted refugee?
If you are a claimant you cannot apply for PR.. but if you are accepted as a refugee after your hearing.. they why your pr is refused?

They have applied for private sponsorship from abroad after being recognized as a refugee by UNHCR.

Where were those vacations? Had you already left your home country by that time? When were you recognized as a refugee by UNHCR?
