Hi there!

So, I am currently applying for a Master's program in Canada. I have just noticed that in order to receive a study permit, I need a bank statement showing I have 10,000$ CAD and my tuition fees.

Problem is, I don't have the tutition fees now, but I will be able to secure it by March or April because we are currently selling our inherited house (My study permit will be applied for in around May)

My question is.. since they are asking for a bank statement, can I provide them with the 4 months bank statement but January, February and March statements show only 10000$ CAD, and in April my statement will include my tuition fees so it will be around 30000$ CAD. I can even add more.. like 60000$ CAD

I mean is it necessary to have the full amount available in my entire statements during the 4 months? Or having a 10000$ for the first 3 months and then during April, my bank statement will show 60000$ CAD.. will be just okay?

If not, can I explain this to my officer in the embassy? that I did not have funds, but now I have since we sold our house?

Hello,
bulk deposits on your bank statements need to be explained to the VO.
You can explain that you sold a property, attach deed and proofs of the transaction but trust me, if its the only property you have in your country VO will find it suspicious and will think you are selling everything for coming to Canada, in other words, ties to your home country aspect will be weakened..

Take care..

you can always pay your tuition fees and attach the slips in your application, that will work no matter when you paid them.. then you just have to show 10000 on your bank statements (but remember to explain every bulk deposit)

Hi there!

Thanks for your comment. Okay sounds good. I can do that!
Regarding the property, as I am selling the property, we will buy another one (it will be shared, me, mother and sister) so can I attach a document that confirms that I have a property? do you think this will sound good?

Thank you.

Hello..

Properties improve your home ties and you can always attach a document showing you own one... I think its better to pay your tuition fees for one year, attach those slips, and then you only need to show 10.000 CAD on your bank statements (if your are coming alone)... if you have a work you can attach your monthly salary slips like source of founds..

But thing is, how can I pay the tuition fees in May? Assumingly I got accepted in May, and I am applying for the visa in May. I don't think universities accept a payment of 3 semesters upfront. Only one semester.

Also, what do you think of a letter of a person supporting me? I can send the 10000$ to my cousin, and he can write a letter that he is willing to support me and will use his bank statement for the 4 months (the statement will show that I Sent him 10000$).

Safest way of showing proof of funds is always 4 months bank statements with all the money... if you give VO the opportunity to think your funds are borrowed there's a risk of being refused... you will only need first year tuition payment slips (2 semesters), ask university if you can do that and if you will get a refund if your visa is refused... If you definitely dont have that option... you should do the property selling thing... i dont recommend your cousin letter..

Thanks a lot Camilo! You have offered such a helpful advices! I appreciate your help. I was just thinking the same way that they will think this is a borrowed money.

I will do the house thing, and contact the university and check if I can pay the fees in advance for the first year. I will also show a proof that I have a new property. Do you think I should show them my mother's pension payment? She will help me with that money too.
