Hello, we are a married couple waiting for PR (we applied for FSW category). My wife is currently working outside of Canada while I am working inside.

My wife has a tourist visa (TRV). We plan for her to travel to Canada as a tourist and live with me for 6 months (the allowed maximum stay for tourists).

I have a few questions:
- Should we change her country of residence to Canada?
- What if we receive COPR when she's inside Canada? Can we both declare our physical location as in Canada and receive COPR inside?

Thanks in advance

1. She can stay longer than 6 months if you want, if you apply for an extension. The extension will likely be approved.

2. No need to update her country of residence even if she arrives on a TRV.

3. Yes, if she gets her COPR, you can inform IRCC she is in Canada.

Hi @bellaluna, thanks so much for your response.
1. May I ask what kind of application to extend 6 months? Is that the Visitor Record? As of now, my only plan is for her to go outside of Canada and go back to"refresh" the 6month

3. I know that if she gets COPR while outside, she'd need to submit passport for counterfoil. But if she's already inside, I suppose IRCC won't request her passport then?

Thanks again,

1. I guess they do call it a visitor record.

3. Not sure how the procedure is these days, if an e-landing will apply to her, but I was asked for my passport even when I was inside Canada. Anyway, they will let you know once you tell them.
