Hi All,

I am currently in the US and have Canadian PR for which I did soft landing in October 2021. I am married and have a daughter (US Citizen) now. I am looking for options to get visa for my wife and daughter, so that we can plan to relocate to Canada soon. Could you please let me know what are the options I have? Do I need to first get visitor visa for my wife and then apply SOWP once we are in Canada? Is there an option to apply for SOWP or apply for PR sponsorship as we are not in Canada right now?

Really appreciate your response.

Thanks,
Sankar

- Since you are a PR, you must be living in Canada in order to sponsor your wife and daughter for PR. You must also continue living in Canada while the application is processed and until approval.
- Yes, they need to get visitor visas in order to travel to Canada ahead of getting PR.
- Your wife does not qualify for a SOWP. These are reseved for spouses of foreign workers and international students. She will qualiy for an OWP if she is able to get a TRV approved and comes to Canada and you then submit an application to sponsor her inland. You cannot apply for the OWP first. The first step is to sponsor her for PR.
- There are no options that allow you to apply for the OWP or sponsorship while you are outside of Canada.
