Water damaged passport and work visa stamp

Good afternoon, my name is Rugved Joshi. I travels to india first time after I migrated to canada. Somehow my passport got water damaged and I can not travel with the damaged passport. I have my return flight scheduled after 3 weeks. I have already started the process to obtain new passport. Fortunately I am pretty sure I will get new passport before my departure date. I have concern about my visa stamp. My bio information, photo and visa stamps are fairly visible and can be read easily just the pages got wet in water.

my question is can I travel with both passports and get entry into canada? I will surely be stamping my TRV after reaching there but I need to start job on the first week of January that is what it is very important for me to reach there on my scheduled flight??

is counterfoil valid and not damaged? if yes then no need to worry and u can carry both the passports with u and enter in Canada however if counterfoil is damaged and not readable/verifiable then u would need to request to IRCC for the replacement (if applicable) or need to apply new trv with explanation letter

Hello, thank you so much for your prompt response. I am not sure weather the counterfoil is valid or not. It is readable and it is in fair condition not like it was before water damage but I is easily readable. Now how can I confirm if counterfoil is valid till what extend??

counterfoil means visa sticker and valid means expiry date if its valid then no issue u must carry both the passports with you but make sure that as soon as u get the new passport then call immediately to your airline and informed them to update your ticket as well as ask them to update your new passport details with IRCC coz it would take some time (as in my personal experience, my son got renewed passport and when we reached at airport airline staff couldn't able to get the boarding pass for him coz visa was on the old passport so airline had to contact ircc to update new passport details and we had to wait for more than one n half hour for this

Yes it is completely valid. I do have visa till 2028 and it can be easily readed on the stamp. My stamp is completely valid not expire. Yes that was my next question but u already answered. I will not forget to update airlines regarding my new passport. Do you think I need to go to Mumbai as I live in Gujarat to IRCC office to show them the condition of passport and ask weather it will be valid or not???

I would not say that. Punter foil is completely fine water has affected my counterfoil little bit but still someone can easily identify all the details required for immigration.

i think no need to visit anywhere if counterfoil n your old passport is in visible & readable condition since airline will only scan the passport (if barcode is not readable) and share the details with ircc system for verifications of the passenger and get the boarding pass i means from departure airport and once u landed in Canada then CBSA can verify all the derails from their system, if there's any issue... and one more important thing as u said u have job there then u must hold your valid work permit? which is also an added proof... but if u really wanted to get satification then i would suggest u must visit your airline office they might give u correct answer but u should visit them with your new passport
