Hi All,

I have a query regarding the address history. Does IRCC compares address history from 2 different application?

I have an ongoing application of outland spousal sponsorship for my wife and I am eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship as well. There are some changes in the address history which I have to make in my new application for citizenship so, Does IRCC compares the history with another application?
Please advise.

They can. They probably do at least some. Not sure they compare address history in all applications the applicant has made or how often.

Probably best to assume they will, or at least that it is likely they will for applications made relatively recently and even more so for any that are still pending.

Not sure I understand the context here however. Obviously historical information does not change, including address history.

Errors may be corrected, of course, and significant errors should be. If there is an error in another pending application obviously the better approach is to notify IRCC of any corrections and why. And meanwhile proceed with making sure the information submitted in any new application (such as one for citizenship) is accurate. Whether to include a supplemental statement, with the new application, clarifying address history errors in previous submissions to IRCC, is a personal judgment call. Depends on factors like how significant the differences are.

Making sure information submitted to IRCC is accurate and complete is among the most important priorities when dealing with IRCC.

Re Likelihood IRCC Compares Information In Previous Transactions:

Again, they can.

Even if they do not routinely compare information in separate applications, IRCC is more likely to compare information in applications still in process or at least more recently made applications. I am not certain, but I would anticipate information in any and all applications still pending is compared. (Reminder: comparison of information is probably the biggest and most relied on assessment tool that IRCC uses.)

But of course they can compare any and all information provided by a client in previous transactions, subject only to how long they retain particular records. Retention periods for information collected in PIBs (Personal Information Banks) can be found online, but it takes some effort to find this information. I do not recall how long information from previous temporary status applications or PR visa applications (which would include sponsorship applications) is retained, but as best I can recall it is many years and at least for PR applications I believe it was at least a decade but probably longer.

If two applications covering a similar period have different information, chances are high that at least one of those applications has incorrect information. Whether this is oversight or deliberate, is for the applicant to decide. If oversight, best to correct that.

As @dpenabill has pointed out, they may not necessarily do it, but bear in mind that all of us have one unique ID on IRCC's systems and this could likely get flagged.
