Experts, Appreciate your valuable inputs please.

Once we submit the spouse outland sponsorship application in Canada and upon the sponsorship eligibility confirmation, can a sponsor leave canada for long term until the application is processed for spouse?
Kindly provide your suggestions. Thanks

If you are a Canadian citizen, you can leave or sponsor someone while living outside of Canada. But you have to submit proof to IRCC your plans to return Canada.

As a PR, you need to be living in Canada to sponsor your family. So you shouldn't plan to live there (6 months is not "traveling").

  • You can’t sponsor someone if you’re a permanent resident living outside of Canada.

Thanks for your reply. so i shouldnt travel outside (long term) even after i get the PR sponsorship approval is it ?
Correct. Suggestion is to keep the trips under one month and don't go too often. You need to be spending the majority of your time in Canada until the application is approved.

Definitely not advisable. We've seen a number of applications here refused under these circumstances.
