I got married last month and my spouse is US green card holder , Souse not interested in being sponsored for Canada or for accompanying in Canada.

My PR application in progress however as per gcms notes is approved in August 2021, haven’t received PPR or PR card/ email confirmation yet .

My work permit is expiring in few months. Shall I update ircc for marital status on my BOWP application or my PR application . Where I need to declare marital status and what email should I right if spouse non accompanying or non sponsored?

I am worried it will further delay my application and what documents will be asked so I can prepare ahead even my spouse is non accompanying and not interested in Canadian sponsorship ?

What should I include in my webform as spouse non accompanying or non-sponsoring ?
@legalfalcon please advise

You do not need to update the BOWP application.

However you MUST update the PR application. This is not optional and failing to do so is misrepresentation. This will create delays to your application processing since your spouse (even if non-accompanying) will be required to complete a medical, provide PCC and go through the background check, etc.

It doesn't matter if your spouse is accompanying or non-accompanying. That's your choice. The process of adding them will be pretty much the same. However you MUST notify IRCC and add them.

Do I have to notify via webform ?

I read somewhere I will be asked to submit IMM forms . Will I need to put my information on those form or of my spouse ?

You have to update IRCC about the change of family composition in your PR application. Irrespective of whether your spouse is accompanying or not, you will have to submit their documents and they have to be processed for medicals, criminality and security and only after that you will be issued a decision on your application.

If a decision has been made, the application will be reopened.

As regards the BOWP, you do not have to be concerned.

Documents required:

1. An IMM8 Application
2. Schedule A form for spouse
3. Additional Family Information form for primary applicant and spouse.
4. Fee receipt for spouse - Processing fee ($550) and right of permanent residence fee ($490).
5. Birth Certificate of spouse, translation, and affidavit of translation.
6. Copy of Spouse's Passport
7. Copy of marriage certificate and marriage registration
8. Wedding Card and Photographs
9. Police clearance certificate for the primary applicant and spouse
10. Spouse's upfront medical
11. Letter of Explanation (If required)

My spouse is not interested in Canadian sponsorship either as getting US citizenship in few months. Shall I inform about it in reason for not accompanying & not interested in Canadian sponsorship either?

For schedule A form, does it need to be filled by me & shall I put my spouse family information or my family information with addition of my spouse name under being married?

While filling out IMM0008, under UCI for spouse - what should I fill ? My spouse doesn’t have one ,
Also without UCI, how can I get upfront medicals done ?

Hi Scylla, I am an outland applicant and received COPR and after which I married. I am yet to do the landing. My wife is not accompanying me due to her studies. I have informed IRCC through web form about the change in marital status and they are yet to provide further mail regarding the documents required. As the wife is non-accompanying will the process be faster, to get the updated COPR with marital status as married?

The short answer is no. The process is the same regardless of whether she is accompanying or non-accompanying. She needs to take and pass the medical, provide PCCs and go through the security / background checks, etc.
