Hello, I would like to know if anyone has official information about when you send your visitor visa extension. I'm inside Canada and every 6 months I renew my stay as a Visitor. I usually send my extension 1 month before my expiration date, that takes few months (usually 3 to 4 months), but this time I sent everything in Feb 26, and my visitor record exipires on March 26, but as today Sept 14 2022, still no update on my file, like I mentioned I was expecting to receive my Visitor Record by June or July at the latest, but nothing arrives yet, so what should I do? I tried to send a new application on Aug 26 since supposedly this new application should end on Sept 26, but when filing the application they requires the last Visitor Record number, and that one expires in last March 26, so for sure will be problems, so any advice or experience will be very appriciated, thanks in advance!

There is a huge backlog. Your timeline is the same as others. Until you hear about the extension approval/refusal you are fine to stay in Canada. How many extensions have you been approved for on this visit?

Since 2019 every 5th month I do this process, and always approved in 3 to 4 months, thanks your reply

I'm visiting my son and grand daugther, I would like to apply for SuperVisa, but as a Chilean National I have free access to come anytime without Visa so for me is kind of pointless, but maybe next time we will do that

Get a super visa. Sooner or later IRCC is going to refuse the extension.

Processing times are around 6-7 months right now for extensions so you should be hearing something soon.

If you're refused and have to leave Canada, recommend you remain outside of Canada for at least 6 months before applying for the super visa.

Given the amount of extensions there is a pretty high chance that you will get denied if not this time sometime soon. It was easier to get extensions approved during the height of Covid. If that hasn’t been the case refusal may have happened last year. Agree with @scylla that if denied the extension you should reestablish your ties to Chile and then apply for a supervisa if you want to visit longer than 6 months. Given the length of your visit this time you will need to show that you have ties to Chile again.

Depending on the result you may have to change your plans again.

Small update, yesterday I received the decision from IRCC, I got approved for 1 more year, so thanks for the comments and advises, just sharing my experience that might help others.

Congrats.

Silly question: I applied for my mother's visitor visa extension and received an approval for visitor record with expiry date 2023/09/30 (~1 year).
Does that means my mother can stay in Canada until 2023/09/30? Or she can only stay in Canada for 6 month from today?

Thanks.

My understanding is the visitor record exipration date is the date you must leave canada, so in your case 2023/09/30 should be that date, mine look the same just few days before (2023/09/13) so i'm assuming could be same case

There is no one you can "text". You have implied status to remain in Canada until you hear back on the application but obviously should no longer be working.
