Hello everyone,
I am naturalized Canadian citizen and living with my wife who applied for Spousal sponsorship inside Canada.
My sister, brother-in-law and their 2 daughters would like to visit us in during their daughters' school break in the winter. I will be sending invitation letter and they will finance their expenses and will stay at airbnb. I have a few questions regarding their application and would appreciate if anyone give us suggestions.

1. When applying for visa which one should they choose? Visit as a tourist? or Visit a family?

2. I know that since the whole family is applying for TRV the ties to the home country would look weak and it would increase the chance of refusal. How can they show that they have strong ties to their home country. They are planning to attach:
- Bank statement
- Ownership of the apartments
- Letters from the job that indicates salary, position and the day they are expected to return to the job
- Letters from the school that indicates their daughters' school break.

Not sure where they are applying from and when winter break is but processing takes many months.

1. Your sister is the only one who can say visiting family so tourism is fine.
2. They seem to have all documentation in order. Assume both have job letters. If they pay tuition for school then show proof of payment. Make sure funds can support a visit including airfare. Include any travel history to the US, UK, NZ or Aus.

Thank you so much for your reply.
In my home country, processing time for TRV is 30 days.
- The family or 4, planning to stay in Canada for 10 days. How much fund would be enough approximately?
- Brother in law is going to submit job letter. Sister runs her own business and planning to submit related documents.
- Should they submit 2 separate application for wife and husband? Since their children are minors they don't have to apply separately right?

If they are staying at an Airbnb, airfare, food, fun stuff etc. The trip is probably between $12-15k so show those funds plus that much more so not spending all their savings on a visit. All can apply under same account but each has own form.
Can I fill out one visa application for my whole family if we are travelling together? (cic.gc.ca)

The family must show that they have enough of their own savings to support the visit even if you will be financing the trip.
