Online physical Presence Calculator- Working abroad for Canadian institute

I am preparing for Canada citizenship application. I have spent long time out of Canada (>6 months) in form of work trip for a Canadian institute (a Canadian University) doing research in another contry (in Europe). I was trying to figure out how to use “ online Physical presence calculator”. I was hoping I could claim my time out of Canada working for This university towards my pr obligation/ physical presence according to:

But when I fill out the online form for physical presence it does not discriminate different forms of absence and counts my work trip as total absence. The form says: "You must list all absence from Canda even if accompanied by a family member who is a permanent resident or citizen of Canada, including trips for the purpose of business, pleasure or vacation, visit to family members, and trips to the United States, etc."

I have some university letters saying that my time out of Canada was a work trip and I was fully employed.

It seems contrary to the exeption for time out of canada (see url above).
How to properly claim time spent out of Canada working for eligible Canadian institute?
Is it enough to attach those suporting letters + Tax documents + explanation letter to the application?

The URL you're providing is related to the PR residency period, not the citizenship physical presence requirement, which is, as the "physical presence" suggest, way more strict.

Only crown servants (members of the military and federal or provincial administration workers) and their families get to claim these days, people sent to work outside the country by a Canadian organisation aren't crown servants and these days only count for the PR renewal application.
