Unfortunately, 6 months after the interview and 1 week after I got back in Canada, they sent me CIT 0520. I managed to find most of the leases and receipts. I can't find one lease but I managed to find one former roommate who's gonna give me an affidavit. I highly recommend you to get back if you are still outside otherwise you're delaying your application since these evidence can only be obtained within Canada.

Sorry to hear. But it sounds like you have all the evidence you need, and at least they finally looked at your application again and it's the RQ lite. Hope the delay is not too long. Keep us posted!

I got CIT 0520 about two days after I had an interview in August. The interview request was a total surprise to me- wish I had brought more proof of my residency to the interview. But I took the test in Canada, I have been a PR for a little over 20 years and my travel history is light. I live in Canada, period. Not sure why they thought my residency was suspect.

What office sent you the interview request?

Hope your application moves again soon.

Please forgive me for the ignorance but you did get the test invite from CEN which was already pointed out to you by members that your application is non routine. There might be something on your profile which was triggered right in the beginning of the application and without knowing your entire life story no one can interpret.
Also please do-not get me wrong but if you have been following this forum you would know how some applicants try to use the rules to their favor and get into unnecessary complications. It shouldn't give readers who already are stressed out, wrong impressions. cheers

Kitchener. They're simply lazy and stupid. They're trying to make us do THEIR job. Simply checking with CBSA will clear their doubt but they're just lazy.

Not sure what you are getting at here. I am not looking for interpretation, I just wanted to compare timelines/commiserate with someone who also got the RQ lite.

Do not accuse me of trying to "use the rules to my favor" or of giving others wrong impressions.

Some officers might not schedule oath if you're outside but there are cases where the applicant wrote to the office and got a prompt response. If you read mine and OP's posts in the link below, clearly their concern was that they were just trying to avoid potential no-shows (by inviting folks not currently in Canada):
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/ircc-is-asking-for-a-boarding-pass.768400/page-3

I understand you got CIT0520 but its very rare these days. Some IRCC officers are bad and your CIT0520 may not have been necessary. Or - part of your travel history was before they fully implemented the entry/exit systems at the border/airports. Could be anything else, we can only speculate. It's like fingerprint requests, only much rarer. (In recent memory, the other CIT0520 I recall was when @harirajmohan got it because of frequent daytrips to the US for work.)

I also don't believe Kitchener is the laziest office. If anything, it's been the fastest office in the whole country (iirc it still holds the record for doing end to end processing in like 4 months for a couple of folks.) Also they're probably one of the 2-3 offices that actually respond to queries. Someone whose application is collecting dust in Ottawa or Edmonton would die for their application to be transferred to Kitchener.

Whatever in your situation required them to issue CIT0520 does not exist for a vast majority. And if you think everyone working outside should come back right away this might happen:

I don't actually bear any ill will toward the agents or IRCC. I just wish I had been able to clear things up during the interview.

I don't think I'll hear anything until next year.

My apologies, that was not even for your case & that is why I used a different paragraph. It would not be fair to compare your timelines as the reason for RQ is completely different. You have waited a long time and hope you get done with everything soon. cheers !

Returning to Canada does not guarantee fast processing, but the trends have been that IRCC tends to put applications on hold of those who are known or perceived to be outside Canada for longer than a short trip, and then starts at least to look at the file again when the applicant returns. The example you cited is actually another example of an application that got an oath invitation one month after the person came back to Canada after being asked by IRCC to do so:
