apply for citizenship overseas - online application eligibility?

Hi everyone,

I moved outside of Canada in July, together with my spouse who is a Canadian citizen (I am a PR). I am currently working on the citizenship application. Can I still apply for citizenship online as long as I don't use the time spent outside Canada as a family member of a crown servant in the physical presence calculation? I already satisfy the 1095 days requirement before I left Canada.

From what I read on https://citapply-citdemande.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/landing , it should be OK for me to apply online. Wanted to get some opinion from the forum.

If you are applying from outside Canada, how would you put an end date on your last absence from Canada?

Thank you for the response. In the physical presence calculator, the last absence I will add is from July (when moved outside of Canada) to the application date. Do you see any issue?

I'm sure someone on the forum has done it before and they said they sent a webform about the dates right after applying. I forgot who it was and didn't check in on what happened to their app. I was also told at the time there's no explicit requirement you have to be present in Canada at the time of the application. You might be better off finding that post and also what happened afterwards. just to be sure.

You can also search the forum with related keywords, might get some more info.

But if you're 100% sure you want to apply from outside, write a clear explantion about the return date (which will be a problem as @akbardxb has pointed out) and because of the system limitation you entered the date of application as the return date. Just to make sure they don't think you are trying to misrepresent.

If I recall correctly, the form refers to Absences from Canada with a start and end date as well as the destination, reason and no of days.

Since you are still outside Canada on the day you are applying, your last absence from Canada has not ended so the 'To' date and no. of days is incorrect and/or misrepresentation.
