I have applied for PR sponsorship for my spouse since the processing time for application was showing 23 months.
We decided to apply for a visitor application as well. My spouse's visitor application has been approved. We got the passport submission request and medical request for the spousal sponsorship on the same day. She did the medical and submitted her passports. I have the following question:
Would she need to go back and come back, if her PR application got approved while she is here in Canada?
Can we submit her passport here at VFS Canada and receive COPR?

my wife was here on visitor when her pr came through, she did not have to go back home we did a flagpoling at USA border for her to do her landing.

How do you receive her COPR?
Do you need to have US visa to do that?
honestly it was over 7 years ago and i cant remember if we got copr at border or if it was mailed later.
wife had a USA visa but i dont think its necessary as you dont enter USA you get turned around.
I recommend searching flag poling in this forum or on google as i cannot remember the full process. I think you can even book an appointmetn to do your landing too, but we didnt want to wait so we flagpoled.

Now this is done differently and no need to flagpole, they invite to do 'virtual landing' (with computers), all done in Canada. Lots of reports of this here. No need to worry about details at this point because some aspects will change (hopefully they'll fix some bits).

My wife was outland, and came to Canada under a TRV. Immigration changed her from an outland visa to an inland, and continued to process her through the London, UK office. She stayed in Canada with me, then when approved her file was sent to the Vancouver Office for processing. They then send a letter through email inviting you to a virtual landing done over the phone.

just to note that the virtual landing process is correct.

But her application was not changed from outland to inland. They continued to process it in UK office.

Interesting because when I spoke with the immigration office over the phone, they said they changed her to inland but London will keep the file in order to retain the same case officer. One of the great IRCC mysteries. :)

It just shows that ppl on the phone doesn't know what's going on . :) They are not IRCC agent or officier. They are just there to answer questions and not all of them are well trained.

Totally agree, and that is the service they provide on the diplomatic assistance line. LOL

It's possible they just restated it as 'inland' to keep it simple for you. In actuality it didn't change.

At that stage if you're not trying to get open work permit, there is not that much of a difference.

Do I need to do anything when she comes here on TRV?

Let's say her file got approved and she was here at that time.
Do I need to inform IRCC to have a virtual landing?
