Hi folks,

Just received my Passport request and my medical expires in 8 days, I’m sure by the time my passport arrives at the Visa office, my medical on record would have expired. Should I go ahead and send the passport anyway or should I go and get another Med done before sending in my passport? Anyone who’s been here or knows someone who’s been thru similar situation to pls advise. Thanks

I would go ahead and send it in. IRCC/IRCC med officers can extend validity of meds in some circumstances. Hopefully they've either already done that or will go ahead and do so.

Obviously you could go and do meds too, but may be money and time down the drain - or, possibly, save you time.

How do you know the expiry of medicals?

i did my medicals in September 2020, but I can see on the online application that I have passed the medicals on March 2022.

what is the validity of my medicals? March 22 + 1 year?

Nope. Sept 2021. The fact that it says passed medical does not mean it’s still Valid. Your Med expires exactly one year after it was done!

But then how come they asked me to submit the passport without requesting for new medical exam?

moreover if you check the following post, it says 1 year after the medicals have been assessed.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/standard-requirements/medical-requirements/assessing/validity-period-medical-certificate.html

So I am really confused here

IRCC decides how long the medical is valid for. They may extend without asking you (there are internal procedures to determine whether they do this and for how long, etc.).

You would/could see this after the fact by ordering GCMS notes - it will be marked there.

But given the circumstances: submit your passport and see what happens, they may have already extended the validity of the medical.

I warn though: there are/have been cases where IRCC seemingly did not notice until after the PPR, so applicant sent passport and then got asked to do remedical. I don't know of anyway to be certain in advance.

Did you get your COPR and passport stamped.....I am in the same boat, I got my PPR but its over 12 months (August 2021) since my medical exam. The status on application has been updated to say medical passed on September 2022

I had to retake the Med again, as a matter of fact, I got letter for Re-med a month after I sent them my passport. But thankfully I scheduled the Med ahead, so I would advice you send your passport, and go take upfront medicals again, then upload it on thru a web form while your passport is on the way to them. This is to save time if u care.

Hi,
So I sent my passport last week for my open work permit (PGWP) stamping (I applied from India). Today I got a letter saying I need to submit my medical within 30 days of this letter. Will this cause any issue?

Does that mean my passport will only be stamped after my medicals are updated? Also, I’m travelling rn. Is there a need to hurry?

I don’t think there should be an issue but just wanted to confirm. I believe they noticed my medical has expired after I sent in my passport.
