Hi guys, I took the online citizenship test outside Canada due to covid in April. The IRCC just sent me an email asking for my intended day of going back. I replied that I’m going to go back in the middle of August, but I can be flexible if the Oath invitation comes sooner.
What do you guys say? And does anyone know what happens next or how long the Oath invitation will be? I don’t mind going back Canada for the Oath but I don’t want to go too early because I still have my job in my country.

Honestly, nobody here knows the answer exactly. Myself, I haven't seen anyone here who got DM or Oath scheduled before going back to Canada.

You are better to give them an exact date than email them again with your landed proof. It might take 1 month to get your DM from there and another 2-3 weeks to the Oath date, plus 2-3 weeks to receive the citizenship certificate. I would say you might spend like 2-3 months in Canada.

Would you mind share from which email address IRCC used send you the request? Thanks!

I am in a similar situation, could you update me what eventually happened with your application? Did you get your oath data before reaching Canada?

Hi, it’s me. So shortly after I got the email asking when I’m going back Canada, they sent me an invitation to an interview with one agent. I’ve done the interview online, outside Canada. Nothing special about the interview, just confirming personal info. Then the lady told me that she will schedule the oath right after. One week after the interview, I got the invitation to the Oath ceremony. I have to book the flight and go to Canada immedietly. Everything went smoothly, yes I’m a Canadian now, just waiting for my passport.

That really eases a lot of stress. I read couple of folks claiming that officers don’t schedule the oath if you are outside of Canada. Hearing from you I’m seeing that there is a possibility of getting the date while being outside.

I think it depends on each office. Mine is Vancouver, they are pretty friendly and welcoming. I were very stress before the interview too. Just show them that you sincerely want to come back and you will be able to come back at any time. I know for some people, they have jobs and other business in their own country, so it’s a waste of money and time to just come back and wait for the Oath without knowing the exact date.

Hey Folks,

I am in a similar (Outside Canada) situation, applied online in March 2022, AOR in April 2022, got my BG Completed on October 25, 2022 and received test invitation on October 27, 2022 (Window: Oct 31 - Nov 21, 2022).

I passed my test from Outside Canada on November 1, 2022 and until now my online tracker is still showing test in progress / 'waiting on you'.

What do you think would happen in our situation? Any idea?

Appreciate your feedback on this.
