Ghost updates new Tracker

Based on the above posts about CSIS, background and police certificates... I thought they were all covered under "background checks"?

We have "completed" for medicals, eligibility and background in the PR tracker for 3 months. Does this mean there's something else to be "completed" before they move our file forward?

Got ghost update today.

Been consistently getting ghost updates on the pr tracker since August. I did notice an update on gckey on the 3rd, which is when I sent an email to my vo. Pr tracker also updated saying that they've received my submitted information... fingers crossed still

Have you contacted your vo for more info? I suggest emailing the vo to ask the question. If your application has been longer than 12 months, I'd even suggest sending a complaint to the embassy head... I will do it once I pass 12 months...

Usually Means they are about to request something from you.

In my case I do get this update when ever they are about to request something from me.

with several ghost updates and numerous reminders to LVO, yesterday I got a response from LVO regarding the update of my file along with the change of eligibility status in the PR tracker from "Not Started" to "In Progress". Moreover, PR tracker also showed that we have received your Police Clearance Certificate, however, I haven't sent any PCC again.

Usually Means they are about to request something from you.

In my case I do get this update when ever they are about to request something from me.

Really? Ok, I haven't seen anything. It's the second update I've seen. The first one was in May when we sent my husband's new passport number; and this time, I sent a set of new info to validate our mariage (Boarding passes from our trips this year, family pictures, conversations and other stuff).
If they want to ask anything, I'm ready to give it

That's good news. We keep reading from others that these ghost updates aren't really ghosts after all... They do amount to something... Patience is needed to see the results

Did the .pdf come in an email or uploaded on the account? If latter, was it gckey or the tracker?

Has the medical been passed? Has eligibility been passed (I presume so)? Have you used the webform to request an update? Also what is the nephew's age (ie is he a dependent or adult)?

Medical has been completed, but is now a few weeks expired.
Eligibility has not moved at all in over a year (been in process progress for over a year).

Nephew is a teenager, dependent.

Background Check is different than the Security Check. It is the Security Check that takes a lot of time, and IRCC is not able to give you a status update on it since it is external entities that are involved in that process. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do other than to wait and watch the many ghost updates that happen without the portal being updated. The good part of this is that after you see the medical passed, you know the Security Check has started which is the second last step. After you pass security, you have the final Officer File Review (completion check), then the Passport Request/virtual landing.
