Time to get PR

I am going to migrate to BC, Canada along with my family, under a closed work permit sponsored by my employer. My employer is going to apply for my PR once I am in Canada. I am trying to figure out what would be my quickest pathway to PR. I have already given IELTS and even after scoring almost maximum CLB level, and having more than 8+ years of professional experience in the software development industry, my expected CRS score doesn't seem to cross the current PR draw cutoff. Based on my research online, I believe I have the following options:

1. Apply for BC PNP Tech: Based on the evaluation online, I expect my BC PNP SIRS score to easily cross the cutoff. My understanding is once I file an application for BC PNP Tech, I should get BC PNP nomination under this stream within 2-3 months. Once I get the BC PNP nomination, my CRS score will easily cross PR draw cutoff, and I should get ITA in the next PNP draw. As far as I know, it should take 6-8 months to get PR after ITA. Overall, if my online research is correct, I should get PR in 12 months.
2. CEC-based PR: As per my understanding, I'll be eligible to apply for PR under the CEC stream after working for 1 year in Canada. That should take my CRS score to 480+. Even though as per current CEC PR draws, I won't qualify but I feel after 12-14 months, the CRS cutoff should drop and I should be able to qualify. After I receive ITA under this stream, adding 6-8 months for the remaining process, I should get PR in 18-22 months.

Based on just timelines, I feel going with BC PNP Tech is the best option. I understand my PR would be tied to BC and I won't be able to migrate out of BC at least for the first couple of years, which I am kind of ok with.

Is my assessment correct? Is there something that I am missing or have overlooked?


One more query: I have already given IELTS. Is there anything else that I can prepare while I am in my home country to quicken my PR processing timeline?

Why do you think you won't be able to migrate out of BC for couple of years? After you got your PR wouldn't you be able to move out of BC? I think it wouldn't be more than a year as you described above!

If you opt for PNP-based PR, you can't move out of the sponsoring province for atleast a few years based on my understanding.
