My passport request package (Photocopy of passport not original, new photos and required forms has travelled from VFS global in Australia to Canada in 4 business days. I got a text saying it’s arrived at the IRCC office for processing. So I’m nearly done!!!

if I didn’t send my actual passport, they dont need to return it. so my last question is …

what is going to happen with my COPR?? Will it be posted out still? Or just an email attachment?

I have the butterflies!

Dont' understand why they would have sent all the way to Canada.

But at any rate: I think they will send a physical package back to you with the photographs, the only part of this that isn't basically just something printed/that you could print yourself or get electronically (for those with visa waiver passports anyway).

maybe they didn‘t. They sent me text messages a saying It was in Sydney OC, then they were sending it to Sydney OC and something about Sydney IRCC.

Aand I had been speaking to someone in Sydney… I am in perth a long way away so Just assumed it went from Sydney, Aus then on to Sydney, Nova Scotia… I sent my original there… clear as mud?

I think more likely it's remained in Sydney-OZ.

ok good to know, why do you think they send photos back?
Photos are needed for the PR card when you arrive in Canada, you will give to the CBSA officer while 'landing' formalities are completed. I presume/believe eventually they will move this old-school system to using electronic photos (they could scan them on receipt). But at present they are kind-of sort-of doing this using the old paper system they have had forever.

For the virtual landings inside Canada photo submission is electronic, and the printing of PR cards no longer uses the physical photographs (they're not glued to the cards), so this is all just anachronistic - or, if you prefer - they havne't got around to devoting resources to 'digitize' the process.

[This is a classic problem of digitizing an inefficient process - sure, it might cost more to keep running the old process, but it's not just money, they'd have to devote staff and management time that know the processes well and how everything works to digitize. So it'll just keep going until it moves up the priority list some day in future. Or, even more likely, when some other change in the system removes this part of the process entirely - like maybe someday they could decide to just stop printing physical visas inside the passports as they do now. It sounds crazy, but there are other types of documents for entry to Canada that don't require inserting a visa - and of course even now you technically need the visa and the copr so redundancy there.]

Hello all,

My husband was invited for an interview at the beginning of next month. Does anyone have tips or advice on how to prepare, and what to potentially expect?

Thank you for any help you are able to offer.

They will ask the questions that you provided in the application

Whatever u have mentioned in the application , just go through that , and they might call you too , so just keep an eye on phone ,

Make sure u and ur spouse r on same page whatever u answer, and ur answers should match the info that u gave them in application

I just received the same email just like yours today ...since I only need an ETA which I don't have to submit my physical passport, just a photocopy of the photo page. Maybe IRCC will just email the COPR or send the hard copy via VFS for me to pickup.
