regarding retired parents visitor visa application

Hi,

I have read various threads here but I still have some doubts so posting the question.
I am in Canada on work permit and want to invite my father and mother on visitor visa. My father is retired recently and mother is home-maker.
They have property and fd's in India and another sibling (22+ so may not be considered as strong tie).

• I read that we should declare duration of trip as 2-3 weeks or a month. My doubt is, can it happen that CBSA actually puts the exit date of 1 month or more often they will get to stay more than the duration initially declared
• Does applying via representative increase our chances of getting visa? also if there is any rejection, does it lead to any other loss other than wasted time?
• We don't have all details of parent's brother/sisters. Is it ok if we omit some people or we must find all the latest addresses etc.
• If visa is rejected, will the biometric be valid or we will have to repay the fee for it too ?

1. CBSA can decide at POE how long they can stay. If not stamped at POE then 6 months.
2. An agent does not complete your chances.
3. Do not omit information.
4 Yes biometrics is valid.

Thank you, few people suggested going via agent as filling self for work permit with retired parents can be rejected due to lack of ability to proof strong ties or other wordings, but this forum is giving me confidence that i can do it myself

If you have all documentation the you can do it yourself. Your parents want to show travel history, funds to support their visit, ties to home country. You can write a letter of invitation and include what they will be doing during their visit.

sure, thanks. I will try it. There is no past travel history. I am planning to write reason as vacation (christmas/new year) and show travel duration as 1 month. Ties to home country : 1 home, savings (which covers the travel cost and more ) , 1 more sibling. and other cousin relatives.

Family ties for your parents are dependant children not their siblings or cousins unless they care for them. Ties to return are pensions, investment properties, home maintenance etc. Savings are liquid funds.

I have a quick doubt. I submitted the application via the new portal. However, while I was browsing more, I realized I could have add some more information for example: (probably by web form before they even begin processing? they have few days to complete biometric)
1)My parents travelled malaysia/singapore etc for few days few years ago. I didn't add this information as there was no travel history question for such. Is it helpful to add this ?

2) The liquid funds (bank statement or property) etc, all are in INR. I submitted as-it-is. Do I get them certified via CA as well and upload again?

3) For my mother,I wrote that expenses will be borne by father. I also declared the same amount in her "amount you have" field. However, I didn't re-upload my father bank statements. Just added her bank account/fd which is not that much. Should I have done that?

4)My invitation letter to parents is not notarized by someone in Canada.

1) No. This isn't helpful. Don't worry about this.
2) No. You don't need to provide this in CA. INR is fine.
3) You applied for both parents together in one application, correct? If so, this isn't an issue.
4) I don't think this is required but wait for someone else to comment on this.

Just to update. I got Passport submission letter yesterday

In the invitation letter, I wrote trip ~1 month, can I book trip for ~5 months now or only 1month and change exit date after entering into canada?

You can book what you want but how long they can stay will be determined when they enter Canada.
