Hi everyone,

I wonder if it's possible to bypass the wait times for a Canada TRV by applying for a United States visitor visa and then getting an eTA for flying into Canada (instead of visiting the US).

Does anyone know if this is allowed? Only asking because processing times are a lot quicker in the USA.

Are you from Brazil, Bulgaria or Romania?

I'm a Canadian citizen, and my wife is Brazilian with a limited travel history and strong ties to her home there.

We're in the process of applying for a USA visa; her interview is next Friday -- We are unsure of what to tell them.. or if this will even work!

I'm not sure what you should tell them. However I would say that generally speaking, honestly is the best policy when dealing with immigration. I would also say only answer the questions asked and keep the answers short and to the point (don't elaborate unless asked for more details). My understanding of B2 interviews is that the decision is generally already made and the interview is more of a formality. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thank you for the replies, at least gives me an idea of what we're trying and isn't a complete waste of time :)
