Hi everyone,
Is it possible to have an application number and received biometric and medical requests before receiving AOR? Also, I (the sponsor) received a letter stating I’m eligible to sponsor, however on the online tracker it still says eligibility is pending. Is the online system behind or is there more eligibility checks to do?
Thanks!

The significance of AOR is to get your application number and to know that your application won't be returned and IRCC has started to work on it. If you already have your application number, then you are in post-AOR time and I wouldn't worry about AOR anymore.

I've read multiple cases where people just straight-up didn't get the AOR.

And yes the new online tracker is a bit delayed. It even says so on the tracker itself.

I'm just curious as to why someone cannot travel if they have an application? I don't see why it would affect an application

There is no law that says you can not travel overseas while your spousal PR is in process. But there any many cases (you can find this in this forum) where PR has been rejected because the sponsor is not in Canada.

Lawyer explained that at the time of decision making, they look at the something called 'Intention to reside in Canada'. If the sponsor is not in Canada then it tells them that you are just wasting a seat.. and they would rather fill the seat with someone who genuinely willing to live in Canada as a PR.

I am in the same situation.. I work remotely so I would have loved to be with my wife and work from there but instead here I am all alone!

However, once you get an AOR.. you may be able to at least notify the department about your intention to visit/live with your partner until the application is in process. Because by law they are not going to stop you from travel but they can reject if they are not aware of Why you are out of Canada.

Thank you so much for explaining this to me, I was planning to go visit my partner but I think I will wait until at least AOR

Anyone who applied for spousal sponsorship received email with attached pdf saying "We are pleased to inform that you have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor & your application has been forwarded to visa office for further processing." If yes then when did you receive it like after AOR or before AOR?
Thanks

I received it like after two weeks of AOR but first Biometric then two days later medical and in the afternoon sponsorship approval.
They didn’t mention any visa office though

In mine too they haven't mentioned visa office line but its there in pdf somewhere that your file is forwarded to visa office for further processing.
Btw, did you received something after this sponsorship approval?

Applied may 07, 2022.
AOR- August 17
Medical request- August 18
Sponsorship approval- August 18
Looks like they have finally picked up the pace!

Did you apply for your partner's visitor visa before you applied for PR? or in parallel?
We applied for visitor after applying for sponsorship, even before getting AOR. But by the look of how things are moving right now, I am very hopeful we will get this finalised in a few months. Havent heard anything from the visitor visa, just biometrics done.
