I want to apply for a visitor visa for my parents from India.
My status in Canada:
I am on an open work permit which expires 6 months from now.
Currently, I am waiting for a decision on my CEC PR application and have yet to apply for a bridging work permit.
Parents' status:
My father is a retired government employee but has extensive travel history to multiple European nations and has served in France and Afghanistan on official deputations.
He is currently on a government pension with a sufficient bank balance to support his travel.
My mother is a homemaker and has always been one.
My sister lives in India and has a job there so that is a reason for them to go back. I am not applying for her visa right now.
The reason invite to my parents is to attend my Graduation Ceremony in late October 2022 and would like to show them around a few cities.
So here are my questions:
1. Is it advised to apply for their visitor visa when my open work permit expires in February 2023? (although I would have applied for a bridging open work permit by then which extends my stay in Canada). Could, having a current work permit only with 6 months more on it, have a negative impact on their file?
2. The second thing is the processing time for a visitor visa from India right now is 158 days. That means if I apply today then within 158 days the date of my convocation would have passed by a big margin. Would this lead to outright rejection for them?
