SDS 2022 Processing Time

Hey! I'm sorry you're still waiting to hear back; the despair I felt the entire waiting time was gut-wrenching and I would never wish that on anyone except perhaps my ex lol. I'm kind of glad they stuck to the FCFS policy because I would have hated to wait till Sept or Oct only to find out I was rejected and that now, I'd have to defer and apply again. But hey, everything turned out great.

In response to your question, I only mentioned my EE details in the mandatory PDF form one has to fill that asks for your personal details, education, work history, etc. It was on the 'Background Information' section where they ask "Have you ever applied to enter or remain in Canada" where I replied with how I applied in June 2021 but withdrew in April 2022. In my SOP, I didn't mention this at all.

It's nothing to worry about (despite all the Quora people scaring the bejesus out of me) because I read about the 'Dual Intent' rule (LINK HERE). It put things in perspective and I applied anyway cuz since EE was on hold, I had nothing to lose.

Another thing to add here is that I also have a sister (married) who is a permanent resident in Canada. I was informed that having relatives or immediate family members in Canada works against your attempts to prove you have ties back home but it didn't work against me, even though I was thinking of omitting that entirely. Thank God I didn't.

At this point IRCC is just acting like an arrogant bully - congrats to all the fellas from Jan 23 intake who are getting their approvals but how the hell does it make sense to delay fall applicants and jump to Jan directly? Such a nerve-wracking experience. Countries smaller than canada are processing their permits faster! SmH

Exactly! This is what I am thinking about, this is where the confusion lies. And the thing is, I had a profile in EE before, but it expired since and I didn't renew it. So, on my application form I put "No" to this question. Am I in trouble?

Well, you know, FCFS doesn't work for most people these days. It certainly isn't working for me, an SDS 8 May applicant. I have already deferred to Winter 2023 intake, and as you say, I am looking at a possibility to get a rejection in October or November (I even don't dream about September) with no time left to re-apply for Winter semester and so lose my admission to the university altogether (as they may have only one deferral possible). Not only that, but also miss the time for a new university application, as it is really FCFS there with applications, not to mention there are no guarantees to be accepted the second time around.

Anyway, as zagcollins is saying below, which is it: isn't having a profile in EE not the same as actually applying for PR once you are invited? In my mind, these are two totally different things. I used to have a profile on EE in 2021 as well, but it expired and I didn't renew it. So, I put a "No" on my SP application form. Was it incorrect?

I've also read about the "Dual Intent" and a lot of information goes like "Yes, officially you are allowed to apply for both, but hey, this shows to the IRCC officer your contradictory statements." Canada is such a mysterious country, seriously (why they don't have a palm face emoji here). I Agree with somebody who said that no other country gets it that complicated.

I don't know whether you not mentioning this might land you in trouble or not but I do know that they'll have your deets in their database and they can cross-check. I would recommend you speak with an agent to see if there's a way you can upload a new visa form or if you should let it be.

IRCC is super unpredictable and definitely unreliable. Really sorry you have to keep waiting but I hope you get a positive response soon!

OK so more clarity on the EE profile thing (and pls note that this is just from the conversation between me and my agent; whether this applies to everyone is not something I can guarantee. So, please take this with a pinch of salt)

I pulled out of the EE pool as soon as I got accepted and I had arranged all the necessary funds for GIC, tuition, etc. Now, I figured I shouldn't have to mention this since I'm already out of EE but my agent clarified that the question they're asking ("Have you ever applied to enter or remain in Canada") doesn't imply whether you still have an active EE profile or if it has expired. The question implies whether you applied for a Canadian visa in the past. Now whether that's in the last five, ten, or since birth; I'm unaware of. However, you need to clarify that you indeed had in the past but now you're applying for a different one. Also, personal opinion here and not legal or something, I think it's crucial to include this if you're applying to a visa category that is different from your previous one. For example, permanent to now a temp visa/permit.

I would definitely recommend a chat with an agent or lawyer but at the same time, maybe it's all just me overthinking and that it could maybe not have an adverse effect at all. I made a pretty silly mistake in my visa form too. I wrote a different designation in the work experience section than what was mentioned in my experience letter. I asked my agent if I should upload a new visa form or a brand new application but my agent told me it shouldn't be an issue. Now, I know this isn't an apple-to-apple comparison but still, trying to balance the negative with some positive.

The 'Dual intent' rule states that Canada understands you are interested in both permanent and temporary stays in Canada. Also, you're in your legal right to apply for PR even if you're a TR. However, when you apply for a temp visa, they need to know you'll honor the rules of said visa. So, you'll basically leave Canada once you're designated duration of stay is done.

Honestly, the first thing I thought to myself when I was informed I had to write "I will move back to India" in my SOP was how archaic of a rule is this? Canada is actively increasing immigration targets, encouraging Canadian education-holders to apply for PRs, etc. but also wants students to say they'll return, and if they're not convinced, they'll outright reject your visa application? How about they just have stricter measures and penalties that drive home the fact that those staying over their time in Canada need to leave or something, instead of being all coy and playing a game of will-they-won't-they?

It has already been 2 weeks of waiting. File lodged on 25th May. Biometric updated on 1st June. Since then even medical is not updated. Should i raise a web form about this or just drop in a mail to update my medicals? What are your opinion guys?

Still these guys reject visas on basis of that we doubt you don't return back..if we really wanted to go illegally way to any country we would be going through panama jungles like other illegal immigrants..why would we pay 28000 cad in study visa...

Still these guys reject visas on basis of that we doubt you don't return back..if we really wanted to go illegally way to any country we would be going through panama jungles like other illegal immigrants..why would we pay 28000 cad in study visa...

This exact point seems very hypocritical to me! A country like Canada which thrives on immigrants to run its economy shouldn't be such a slouch and give such illogical reasons. Sure there's a legal way to immigrate but some decisions are plain BS
